Sustonica, the first certification company tackling the sustainability of short-term rental homes, has announced the launch of its “Committed” programme, aimed at recognising and promoting environmentally-friendly vacation rentals worldwide.

The Sustonica certification programme is an evaluation of a vacation rental’s sustainability practices based on seven of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including:
- Energy efficiency [fridges, cooktops, thermostats etc]
- Water conservation [green cleaning products, washing machine settings, low flow fixtures etc]
- Waste management [recycling bins, refillable dispensers, single-use plastics etc]
- Social responsibility [cultural heritage site recommendations, noise monitoring, wheelchair accessibility etc]
